Nitrous Oxide

At Smile On Dental Studio, our dentists understand that not every patient experiences the same anxiety or likes the same types of treatments. By offering three types of sedation dentistry options, patients can use the right one that works for their bodies. Our first option is nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is known by most as laughing gas and is administered through a facial mask placed over the patient’s nose. The patient will inhale nitrous oxide and oxygen to feel immediately relaxed. We can keep the mask on throughout your entire procedure to make sure you stay feeling great. Once the procedure finishes, we will remove the mask and the effects will soon wear off. You can then drive yourself home.

Oral Sedation

Our second option to help you stay calm is oral sedation dentistry. This involves taking a pill prior to your appointment. The medication will make you feel extremely relaxed throughout your entire appointment. You might even fall asleep during your procedures, but don’t worry, this is normal. This sedation method is best for those who have a much more severe case of anxiety, or who have a complex dental treatment, or a strong gag reflex. You will need to arrange for a ride to and from your appointment due to the side effects of the medication.

NuCalm

Our last sedation dentistry option is for those who would prefer a drug-free method. NuCalm disables your body’s anxiety response by using neuroscience. Patients end up feeling like they’re in a meditative state and even report sleeping better and feeling less stressed following their procedure.
